Newcastle United are back in training after a vital win over Wolves on Sunday, but Eddie Howe has taken steps to ensure his players are fit and ready for the upcoming game against Nottingham Forest.

Howe‘s side are back in action as early as Friday, as Newcastle head to the City Ground to take on Forest in their final match before the international break.

It is a shorter turnaround than usual, with Howe’s box office Magpies appearing on Sky Sports in Sunday’s late game, then appearing on the box once again in the early Friday night slot.

With limited time to prepare for the game, Howe has taken measures to keep his senior players fresh for the trip to Nottingham.

Miguel Almiron takes part in full Newcastle training while others recover

The Sky Sports cameras have been at the training ground today, and have provided footage of Howe putting his players through their paces.

However, it is a very small group that he is working with. That is because the 11 players who started the win over Wolves are completing a recovery session indoors rather than taking part in full training.

Instead, Howe is working with the substitutes from Sunday’s game, the players who didn’t make the squad and a selection of youngsters. Joelinton is there, as he continues to serve his suspension.

Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie notes that Miguel Almiron is involved, after the £21million man scored the winning goal at St James’ Park.

He said: “Miguel Almiron is there. You can probably just see him in the foreground with the bright orange boots.”

It was the Paraguayan’s 11th strike of the season, and it led to wild celebrations inside St James’ Park. He will hope his impact off the bench against Wolves wins him a return to the starting lineup this week. He was replaced by Jacob Murphy at the weekend, who performed well in his place.

But fans will be eager to see Almiron from the start once again, in the hope that he can go on another incredible scoring run.
