The man in form in Newcastle United’s black and white right now is Alexander Isak who has been singled out for high praise by Eddie Howe in his press conference this morning.
Speaking to the media ahead of Newcastle‘s clash with Manchester United this morning, Eddie Howe has heaped praise on Newcastle’s record signing Alexander Isak, telling reporters (via The Chronicle): “I’ll see him for the first time today. I’m not aware of any problems [after Sweden duty].
“He’s got himself into a really good place. He’s getting fitter every game and his ability has never been in question for us. He’s got raw talent.

“He has a brilliant way about him off the pitch & on the pitch he’s electric & a really exciting player. Complements what we have and the players are excited to play with him. I’m really excited about the future for him and it’s just the start.”
It’s the fact that Howe is always so keen to make sure we’re all aware that Isak is still not at 100% that gets my ‘Footie Sense’ tingling.
In the last two games for Newcastle, Isak has bagged three goals and teed up a brilliant assist for Elliot Anderson’s controversially disallowed goal.
Isak is the future of Newcastle’s attacking game
But it’s not just his goal contributions that have been exciting. The way he plays has got the Toon Army off their seats recently. His ability to make brilliant runs behind the defence and open them up for attack is exquisite, and he’s even better with the ball at his feet.
Eyebrows were raised when Newcastle forked over £63million for Isak in the summer, but if his last two outings are anything to go by, we’ve robbed Real Sociedad.
As Howe has said, this is just the beginning for the Sweden international. He’s going to be a key figure for Newcastle as they start to upset the big six and the top European sides. The spine of our team – Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak – is as good as any other in the Premier League, and after this summer we should be starting to see more positions filled by players at a similar level.
With even better players around him there’s no telling what Isak can do for Newcastle. I can’t wait to find out, though.
