We all know that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is the quintessential workaholic, he’s confessed to that fact many times.

The Daily Mail have done a bit of a deep dive on Eddie Howe following his masterminding of Newcastle‘s 4-1 win over PSG.

Eddie Howe lives and breathes football. After being sacked by Bournemouth, Howe said he was going to take some time away from the game.

Eddie Howe studied Europe’s elite coaches when between jobs

That lasted about two weeks and then he was off touring Europe to watch training sessions taken by some of the game’s best coaches and distilling that down into his own brand of football.

He clearly learned a lot as in just half a season at Newcastle he’d taken the side from relegation certainties to a mid-table finish.

His dedication to the job and the fact he simply can’t switch off is what’s driving Newcastle on to success now.

Eddie Howe postponed his post-match cuppa on Wednesday

The report notes how Eddie Howe’s usual post-match ritual is to drive home, sit down with a cuppa and watch the match back immediately.

However, that wasn’t the case on Wednesday as he apparently stayed behind and chatted about the result and the occasion with friends.

That’s surely the biggest sign yet of just how monumental that result was on Wednesday. I wonder how long it was before he was getting the shakes and needing to go home and take the game in again though.
