Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is welcoming Anthony Gordon back into the fold for Tuesday’s game against Marseille.
Champions League action takes priority for Newcastle United this week.
The Magpies beat Manchester City over the weekend, but must now look for European success on the road.
Newcastle travel to take on Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille after three wins from four in the Champions League.
Eddie Howe is seeking another victory, and he will be able to call upon Anthony Gordon for Tuesday’s game.
How much money Newcastle United can and will earn in the Champions League this season.
Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon’s return to Newcastle United action
Gordon picked up an injury against Athletic Club and hasn’t returned to action since.
Howe had hoped to include Gordon against City, but the winger wasn’t even named on the bench as he continued his absence.
Gordon has now travelled to France with the rest of the Newcastle squad ahead of facing Marseille.
It’s unlikely that Gordon will be thrown straight back into the starting line-up, but even having him available will be a boost.

Speaking to the media on Monday, as captured by Beanyman Sports, Howe suggested that Gordon could be an option to play up front.
Howe refused to rule out that prospect as William Osula and Yoane Wissa remain out of action.
Howe praised Gordon for his hard work over the international break, believing that he has put in the effort to put himself back in contention.
“Yeah, I think all options are available to us,” said Howe.
“It’s great to have Anthony back with us. He has worked hard in the break. He’s had a minor injury. I don’t think it was a serious injury. It was a minor injury, but it was enough to keep him out. And especially with explosive players, you’ve got to be really careful with muscle injuries that that doesn’t become a longer-term problem. But he’s done the work, I’d say he’s fully fit and, yeah, I have the ability to use him in different positions,” he added.
Harvey Barnes form leaves Eddie Howe with a decision to make on Anthony Gordon
Gordon hasn’t been at his best in the Premier League this season, but he has at least contributed goals and assists in the Champions League.
Newcastle have deployed Harvey Barnes on the left flank during Gordon’s absence, and he has stepped up to the plate.
Barnes impressed Alan Shearer as he scored twice in a fine performance against City on Saturday night.
Barnes also scored against Brentford before the international break, meaning he is threatening to take the left-wing spot away from Gordon.
Perhaps that means Howe will utilise Gordon up front at times in order to get him back into the team again.
Dropping Barnes or Nick Woltemade would be harsh right now, but Howe must manage his players carefully, and that means Gordon could move between the two positions as he regains full fitness.
