In the space of one year, Martin Dubravka has turned into a key figure at Newcastle.
Most hadn’t heard of him when he arrived on loan last January, but he quickly endeared himself to the Toon Army with a mesmerising debut against Manchester United.
It’s been an incredible year for the goalkeeper, proving himself to be one of the best stoppers in the Premier League. While we recently saw a slip up from the Slovakian, there have been more moments of glory rather than horror from Dubravka.

His form has led to links with Champions League juggernaut Juventus, but the goalkeeper insists he is focused on Newcastle.
“To be honest, I’m completely focused on my job here and that’s what I’m concentrating on right now,” Dubravka told the Shields Gazette.

“I know a lot of people have been asking me if I will stay or not, but I’m happy now and I’m not thinking about any other club.”
Newcastle must keep Dubravka
His words are encouraging, and losing Dubravka would be an absolute disaster during an already morbid January.

Juventus are certainly an attractive option, even if he would only be back up. How often do you get a chance to be part of the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo?
But why would you want to play with CR7 when you currently share a dressing room with MD10?
We must keep Dubravka at the club until the summer. To lose one of our best players right now would be another nail in the coffin. If he continues his heroics and keeps us in the division, fans would be sad to see him go in the summer but would surely respect his decision if he was off to Turin.
But for now, he needs to remain at St James’ Park. Hopefully he can keep us in the division once again, then he’ll be worth even more. He’s already adored by Newcastle fans, but leaving right now could tarnish his reputation in the North East.
