Ralf Rangnick has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United since the takeover.
Rangnick is respected across Europe, and influenced the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel – two of the best managers in the Premier League right now.
Since the sporting director talk, there have been further reports about Rangnick’s interest in joining Newcastle. The Chronicle reported that he believes he can make the Magpies title contenders within three years.
That’s a tantalising prospect, considering that right now we’re siting second bottom in the Premier League.
The new owners want to take Newcastle to the top, and Rangnick reportedly has a plan to do it in just a short few years.
Ralf Rangnick is currently working with former Newcastle striker Demba Ba
One man who would certainly enjoy seeing Rangnick at St James’ Park is Demba Ba.
The former Newcastle striker recently retired from playing, and is looking to become a sporting director. And who better to learn from than Rangnick?
That’s what Ba is doing, visiting the German in Moscow where he currently works.
Ba posted a picture of the duo on Twitter, writing: “I can personally say I’m blessed. Learning from this legend, not once but twice is an absolute honor. From a coach to a player. From a sport director to a future sport director. If you wanna be the best, learn from the best! Peace from Moscow.”
Ba previously played under Rangnick at Hoffenheim, and is now working with him to hopefully become a sporting director.
The 36-year-old has been massively complimentary towards Rangnick, describing him as ‘the best’.
It’s comments like that that would make Rangnick such a wonderful appointment for Newcastle right now. This is a huge project for the new owners, and he could be the perfect man to oversee it.
And with a bit of luck, he could be replaced by Ba in years to come! Although this is just pure fantasy at the moment.
