Dear Italian media, Liverpool star won’t be coming to Newcastle

If you believe what the Italian media tell you then Mohamed Salah could be on his way to Newcastle.

Calciomercato have made the astonishing claim and quite frankly, they’re talking complete nonsense!

Quite how an Italian newspaper would be so clued up on a transfer involving two English clubs is a mystery in itself.

Newcastle are now one of the richest clubs in world football, following a takeover by PIF.

Naturally, that has led to lots of rumours, with many of them better suited to a save on Football Manager that is five years in the future.

This is real life though and Newcastle won’t be in the ballpark for Salah any time soon.

Eddie Howe has recently been appointed as the club’s new manager.

That in itself should see Newcastle fans now adopt a sense of realism. Be excited, but remaining realistic for now is perhaps the message with such an appointment.

Newcastle are now the only time in the Premier League without a win and Howe has a tough challenge ahead.

Why would Newcastle appeal to Salah right now?

It’s a question that we can’t believe we’ve been forced to answer.

On current form, the Liverpool forward is among the best players in world football so why on earth would he fancy Newcastle?

Salah’s agent is hoping to land his client a contract worth £400,000-a-week and Newcastle won’t be forking that out for one player just yet.

The Magpies have to be realistic to the point where players won’t find the club an attractive proposition just yet.

Having money is one thing but convincing the elite players to come to the club is another thing altogether.

Salah, or anyone else of his ilk for that matter, won’t be coming to Newcastle any time soon.

Give it three years and then maybe Salah might talk…
