Darren Eales says he’s been amazed by one Newcastle man this season

Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has been blown away by what Eddie Howe has done this season.

Speaking at the True Faith End Of Season Review, Chief Executive Officer Darren Eales has shared just how good a job he feels Eddie Howe has done at Newcastle.

“With Eddie, it’s unbelievable to see what he’s done with the squad,” said Eales. “How he’s galvanised them. We’ve got a great pair of hands there with Eddie, he’s just unbelievable. The club is in safe hands with Eddie and Dan (Ashworth), in terms of knowing what it is we’re looking for this season.”

For many, Eddie Howe has been the manager of the season despite losing out to Pep Guardiola for the official title. Pep winning the league with that Manchester City side was almost inevitable, but Newcastle finishing fourth in the Premier League with the squad they have was a massive overachievement.

It was thanks to Eddie Howe’s coaching and ability to bring out the best in players that Newcastle were as successful as they were last season. It’s great to see that the board see what us fans see in Eddie Howe, and comments like this from the higher-ups at the club really pour cold water on those ridiculous theories that Newcastle will look to replace Howe with a ‘big name’ manager.

Howe has the potential to become part of the ‘elite’ managers club

The core philosophy at the club is to make stars rather than bringing in stars, and that will apply to the manager too. I’ve said it many times, there was a point where Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho had no titles to their name. Everyone had to start from zero.

I fully believe that if he’s given the time to do so (which it sounds like he will), Howe will definitely bring silverware to Newcastle in the future, and one day he will be mentioned amongst the world’s elite managers.

It’s great to see Darren Eales give a nod to Dan Ashworth too who is working quietly behind the scenes to ensure Newcastle get their recruitment absolutely spot on.
