Harvey Barnes received a brilliant message from former Magpie Danny Simpson on his personal Instagram following his Newcastle United move.

Yesterday Newcastle confirmed the signing of Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes for a reported £39million fee.

The 25-year-old flew out to the USA to link up with Eddie Howe and Co. and immediately got to work. As part of his media duties, Barnes posted a video on his personal Instagram introducing himself to the fans.

In his clip, which was in no way awkward and forced, Barnes mentioned he was looking forward to taking part in the USA tour and the Sela Cup at St James’ Park.

Barnes received many comments wishing him luck, from fans, former Newcastle players and even some former Leicester teammates.

One comment that stood out was from Danny Simpson who has played for both clubs. Simpson left Newcastle in 2013 after a three-year spell moving to QPR before joining Leicester a year later. He was part of the Leicester side that shocked football and lifted the Premier League trophy.

Simpson’s comment to Barnes was superb, saying: You’ll love it mate. Good luck.”

Barnes can’t wait to get his first taste of the St James’ Park atmosphere

Danny Simpson knows all too well what awaits Barnes when he steps out at St James’ Park for the first time. Granted, Barnes has played at SJP before but never with the crowd at his back.

Barnes got off to a great start for Newcastle in his 20 minute outing for the Magpies against Aston Villa last night where he looked sharp ready to go.

Newcastle fans will be hoping to see more of him on Thursday as Newcastle take on Chelsea at 1:15am in the next fixture of the Premier League Summer Series.
