Dan Burn has now revealed what he thought Luton were so much better at than Newcastle united yesterday.

Newcastle’s terrible away record continued as they failed to score against one of the only two teams in the Premier League who were yet to keep a clean sheet.

In a very honest interview with NUFCTV, Burn revealed how Newcastle were second best physically in the game which was very unlike the performances we saw last season.

Burn says Newcastle’s performance was ‘unlike us’

By now it’s almost expected that Newcastle are going to perform like a completely different team when they travel to another club’s stadium.

Just one win in nine away games is nowhere near good enough and gives plenty of reason for fans to be concerned, especially when they have one of the best records at home in the league.

Against Luton, Newcastle were poor in almost every aspect of the game, but what stood out was how physical the Hatters were and it looked like they were winning every key challenge.

Burn grew concerned about the lack of physicality in Newcastle’s game which was a big part of why they were so successful last year, but Luton were ultimately just so much stronger.

In his interview, Burn said: “It’s frustrating, I don’t mind being outplayed by teams but it’s very frustrating when we’re outworked.

“They were more physical, winning more duels, winning more tackles and that was unlike us.”

Newcastle’s attack was lacklustre once again

We obviously all know by now the issues that Newcastle have had with injuries and how it has massively affected the defensively stability that had been so strong prior to this season.

Injuries to Sven Botman, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Nick Pope and then Jamaal Lascelles yesterday has really shaken things up and made it difficult for the players to get into a rhythm, and yet it was the attack that had been so disappointing.

After about 37 minutes Eddie Howe had even made a change to bring on Alexander Isak to liven something up, but it was to no avail as the team looked like they could play another 90 minutes and still not score.

Something has to change, whether that’s to do with the system or personnel isn’t entirely clear but with a big derby coming up Newcastle cannot afford to be that poor in front of goal again.
