Dan Burn shares what he said to Joelinton in private

Newcastle United’s makeshift left-back Dan Burn has heaped praise on Joelinton in his end of season review.

As part of his end-of-season review in The Athletic, Dan Burn has said his a little bit about each of the players who have played a key role in Newcastle‘s success this season, but it seems that the Blyth native has a soft spot for one player in particular.

In fact, such his affinity for the £40million Brazilian, Burn has even told him that he’d love to be him, saying: “If I could choose to be any other player, it would be Joey. I just love him, man, everything about him — and I’ve told him this myself.

‘I couldn’t be happier’ – Dan Burn on Joelinton

“Just from where he was, the start he had here, to turn it around and be the player he is. He is absolutely rock-solid. Nobody wants to touch him, you can give him the ball anywhere, he keeps running for days, he can score goals. I couldn’t be happier for him, because to come back the way he has just shows the kind of person he is.”

The £13million signing from Brighton is a lifelong Newcastle fan, so he will know as well as anybody the struggle Joelinton had when he first arrived on Tyneside, and the subsequent turnaround under Eddie Howe.

Newcastle fans have come to love Joelinton for his amazing performances in the Newcastle engine room and it seems that even his teammates aren’t immune from his charms.

We should all aspire to be like Joelinton

The 26-year-old could be a one-man case study of what good coaching and playing to your strengths can achieve, as well what can be done when you don’t give up and keep believing in yourself.

A lesser man would have crumbled after ending such a torrid spell as Joelinton had in his early Newcastle career.

Like Dan Burn, we should aspire to be, at least a little bit Joelinton.
