After quite a lot of speculation over the course of the summer, Eddie Howe remained at Newcastle United.
Howe was strongly linked with the England job in the wake of Gareth Southgate’s departure but, thankfully, stayed in charge of Newcastle.
While not to suggest the Newcastle United manager is beyond reproach at times, few would doubt that him staying at St James’ Park is a good thing.
Granted, the start of the season was a little underwhelming but recent form points to a huge improvement.
To be able to get a team going again after a lack of investment over the course of the summer is very impressive indeed.
Without Howe, who knows where Newcastle would be?
The club of course boast some talented players any manager would love to work with but there is little guarantee another coach would be able to bring some of them along quite as far – with both Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall having become England internationals under his watch following difficult starts.
Still, at some point, Howe will leave Newcastle. Nothing lasts forever, after all.
Speaking to The Sports Agents Podcast, defender Dan Burn predicted one future move in particular…

Dan Burn predicts the move Eddie Howe will make after managing Newcastle
Burn did tip Howe to one day manage England, though stressed he was happy the move didn’t come off during the summer.
“I do think at some point that there will be the right time for him to go and do that, and I think he’ll do an amazing job,” he said.
“But I’m obviously very happy that he’s stayed.”
Eddie Howe retains the full support of the Newcastle United owners
Clearly, at a club as ambitious as Newcastle, there is always likely to be some degree of pressure.
Owners PIF, after all, are reportedly looking for a top six finish this season – which is certainly no mean feat considering the lack of investment.
However, broadly speaking, it seems the Newcastle United owners are backing Howe.
In fact, they were said to have been baffled by reports Jose Mourinho was looking for the job, such is their support of Howe.
