Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Chronicle confirmed that Jamie Reuben had resigned from his role as a director at Queens Park Rangers.

Why does this concern the Magpies? Well, the Reuben brothers were part of a consortium alongside Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and PCP Capital Partners who saw an offer to buy Newcastle rejected by the Premier League back in July.

The Guardian revealed that Mike Ashley would be taking legal advice over the decision, and this significant update on one of the Reuben brothers is definitely interesting.

The Chronicle state that Jamie had a number of ideas about how to improve Newcastle on and off the pitch, and would’ve needed to leave his role at QPR if he was to take a seat on the board at St James’ Park – something he’s now done, to the surprise of the London club according to The Chronicle again.

Jamie tweeted his heartbreak about the Premier League’s decision back in July, and has been donating to foodbanks on Tyneside since the decision.

This news could mean absolutely nothing.

However, while Ashley embarks on a legal challenge against the Premier League, the takeover isn’t entirely dead in the water which makes this latest development quite intriguing.
