Newcastle United fans may want to keep a keen eye on Antonio Cordero’s progress at Malaga this season.
The 18-year-old winger, known as Antonito, has been drawing attention to himself in Spain, including from club scouts from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Newcastle United.
Despite interest from the two Spanish giants, Antonio Cordero is close to joining Newcastle following talks with sporting director Paul Mitchell.
Newcastle are willing to bring Cordero in as a first-team player, with more guaranteed minutes than Barcelona or Real Madrid were willing to offer.
Newcastle plan to loan out Cordero in his first season to help him gain experience, but then he will expected to make the step up to Eddie Howe’s first team as a winger option.

Antonio Cordero scores for Malaga in impressive display
Malaga fans booed Cordero after hearing that he rejected a new deal in favour of making a move to Tyneside.
However, he remains a key player in their La Liga 2 campaign, and he came off the bench at half-time during Saturday’s clash with Almeria.
Malaga were trailing 1-0 at the time, and the deficit was doubled just eight minutes into the half. However, Cordero was involved in a two-goal comeback, winning the ball back for Malaga’s first before scoring a penalty just after the hour mark to draw his side level.
It was Cordero’s fourth goal of the season to go alongside his six assists. He completed 83% of his passes and won 80% of his duels after coming on for the second half.
Spanish media rave about Antonio Cordero display
Cordero turned out to be the difference maker for Malaga, and the Spanish media highlighted his impact after the full-time whistle.
Spanish outlet ElDesMarque gave Cordero the highest rating of any Malaga player (9) and hailed him as the ‘MVP’ for his display.
They wrote: “He came on after the break and took the team on his back after the 2-0: he recovered the ball for the 2-1 and scored the 2-2 from the penalty spot shortly after.
“A constant nuisance for the home defence.”

That last sentence will be music to the ears of Newcastle fans and Eddie Howe, who tends to play a high-pressing style of football.
It seems Cordero is an ideal fit after being labelled a “nuisance” against Almeria.
