Following the announcement from Newcastle that Rafa Benitez will be leaving the club, the linked names have gone from the sublime to the utterly ridiculous.
With names from Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, to Avram Grant and David Moyes, the list of usual suspects have been touted from agents and media outlets nationwide.

But two new names were mentioned this morning by Sky Sports News, and while one, Claudio Ranieri, will have fans non-plussed, the other, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, could raise a few eyebrows, and would be a very interesting appointment.

Ranieri, of course, led Leicester City to a very unlikely Premier League title just a few years ago, but since then has had dubious spells, including with Fulham, where it it fair to say, things did not go too well.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be an interesting appointment
Van Bronckhorst, however, used to play for Arsenal in the Premier League, and since the end of his playing days he returned to Holland, and led Feyenoord to a title win, which sandwiched wins in the Dutch KNVB Cup either side of it.

He would be an intriguing appointment, and although fans may question his ability, with him being untested at Premier League standard, he may be one to keep an eye on.
Names will continue to be linked, of course, as agents see a big position open for their clients, and it may be that the club will appoint someone who is currently flying under the radar.
Whoever it is will have an incredibly difficult job to follow Benitez, but fans will need to remember that the new manager is not the one who brought this situation, Mike Ashley did.
