Takeover talk is the main topic of conversation among Newcastle fans right now.
Reports of a takeover from the Saudi Arabia sovereign wealth fund emerged on January 25th, with Amanda Staveley reemerging after her previous attempts to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley.
Fans have been led down the garden path on more than one occasion with takeover speculation in the past few years, which has led to pretty much every report being met with cynicism from some quarters.
But what do the players make of the rumours?
Ciaran Clark has spoke to the Chronicle, and given an insight into how the dressing room feels.
“We’ve had this a couple of times now and we try to take it with a pinch of salt,” he told the Chronicle.
“We are aware of stuff being said. Nobody really focuses on it too much, we concentrate on games and training.”
Clark’s answer is exactly what you’d expect. It would be hard to imagine him coming out and saying ‘Yeah I hope it’s true, I might get a pay rise!’.
But the defender’s words probably echo how most fans are feeling. The only difference is, while the players aren’t paying too much attention to it, the fans are desperate for a resolution and want answers now.
Until a deal is confirmed by the club, the Toon Army will take everything ‘with a pinch of salt’.
