Newcastle United absolutely ‘dismantled’ Crystal Palace at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
That is the view of Chris Sutton, who had predicted that Newcastle United would be victorious.
He was correct, as Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 5-0 to move up to third in the Premier League table.
The Magpies are in incredible form right now, having won six games in a row. So many Newcastle United players are at the top of their game at the moment, with Sandro Tonali continuing to excel in the middle of the park.
However, it is out wide where Eddie Howe’s side have impressed Chris Sutton.
Chris Sutton’s major praise for Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy
Following the Magpies’ win over Crystal Palace, Chris Sutton took to X to deliver his verdict.
He was full of praise for two Newcastle United players – Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes.
Sutton wrote on X: “Newcastle dismantled Palace. Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes the best two wide players in the Premier League right now.”
Both players continued their exceptional form against Crystal Palace.
They both scored and got an assist, while both of their goals were exceptional for very different reasons. Murphy’s was a rocket from the tightest of angles, while Barnes’ was an exquisite finish with his left foot.
Newcastle United have won six games in a row. During this run, Murphy has scored three goals and provided four assists. As for Barnes, he has scored four goals and provided two assists.

Bad news for Anthony Gordon
Jacob Murphy is having the season of his life. As it stands, Mo Salah is the only Premier League player who has got more assists than him.
Barnes is in outstanding form too, and is playing the best football of his Toon career. Anthony Gordon’s recent suspension handed him a chance, and he has seized it with both hands.
Right now, both players are absolutely undroppable.
That is bad news for Anthony Gordon, who was a substitute for the second game in a row on Wednesday night. While he is fit and available once more, it is unclear when he will be a starter again for the Magpies.
Given how well his teammates are doing, Gordon may have to get used to being on the bench as the 2024/25 season heads towards its conclusion.
