Former Newcastle striker Ivan Toney is now reportedly a target for Chelsea.
The 25-year-old left Newcastle in 2018, after arriving three years earlier.
Toney made just two league appearances during his time with the Magpies, and spent most of his days out on loan.
But as soon as he joined Peterborough permanently, he developed into one of the most lethal strikers in the football league.
He joined Brentford last summer, and is currently the Championship’s top scorer with 30 goals. That’s why so many clubs want him.
The Sun report that West Ham are keen, while Champions League finalists Chelsea also have an eye on him.
He won’t come cheap though, with Brentford reportedly wanting £35million for their player.
No matter what, it seems certain that Toney will be in the Premier League next season.
He has the chance to win promotion with Brentford in the upcoming playoffs. And if not, it seems likely that a top flight club will make a move for him.
But the fact that Chelsea are eyeing a move just shows how wrong Newcastle were about Toney.
The Sun claim that bigger strikers are ahead of Toney on their list, such as Romelu Lukaku, but the fact he’s on the list at all is a credit to his ability.
He didn’t really get a chance at St James’ Park. But during his loan spells away, he wasn’t scoring at the rate he is now. No Toon fan could have predicted the rise of a player we sold for just £650,000.
It’s great to see Toney excelling and scoring goals; it’s just a shame he isn’t doing it in the black and white of Newcastle.
