Mohamed Salah has been linked with a shock move away from Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s game against Newcastle United.
The Reds travel to Tyneside to face the Magpies at St James’ Park, and will arrive with a player who is attracting admiring glances from Saudi Arabia.
It was reported by the Athletic on Thursday that Al Ittihad are interested in signing the Liverpool forward, although the Reds are adamant that he is not for sale.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have already done business with clubs in Saudi Arabia this summer, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho heading to the Middle East. Losing them has been a blow for Liverpool, but seeing Salah head there would be devastating.
News of Al Ittihad’s interest comes ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the North East, in what is set to be a huge game. There is a bit of needle between the two clubs after last season, while Liverpool have had the beating of Newcastle in recent years.

Ahead of the game, former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has made a shocking claim about the rumours that Al Ittihad want to sign Salah.
Charlie Adam thinks Newcastle owners are trying to ‘unsettle’ Mo Salah
Adam has spoke about the Salah rumours on TalkSPORT, and believes it could be the Newcastle owners trying to unsettle the 31-year-old. That is because PIF, who own 80% of the Magpies, are also the majority shareholders of Al Ittihad.
“I don’t believe he will go,” he said.
“They are playing Newcastle this weekend. There is a wee bit of the Saudi-backed Newcastle situation. Maybe that’s just something they’re trying to ignite the flame before the match and try to unsettle Salah.
“They know that all the questions Jurgen Klopp is going to get asked will be about Salah and Saudi Arabia. Maybe it’s a bit of mind games as well.”

What a ridiculous claim ahead of Newcastle vs Liverpool
Adam’s theory is so ridiculous that it is actually commendable that he managed to come up with it.
While Newcastle and the four top clubs in Saudi are all backed by PIF, it is very clear that they are not intertwined. If that was the case, the Saudi clubs would not be helping Premier League clubs financially by snapping up their deadwood, and we certainly would have got a bigger fee than we did for Allan Saint-Maximin.
It is an absolutely outrageous claim from Adam, and one that is pure nonsense.
