Is Newcastle owner Mike Ashley involved with Castore? What about the Reuben Brothers?

In fact, neither of them are.

Ever since reports of Castore becoming Newcastle’s kit provider emerged, rumours have swirled round social media about who is backing them financially.

There have been rumours that Ashley is involved, which would explain why they were suddenly going to be making Newcastle’s kits.

There have also been rumours involving the Reuben Brothers, which caused excitement.

The Reuben Brothers are part of the consortium who tried and failed to buy Newcastle United last summer.

Had the deal gone through, they would have owned 10% of the club.

Of course, the deal didn’t go through, and Ashley is now involved in a legal dispute with the Premier League.

Castore confirm there is no involvement with Ashley or the Reuben Brothers

The rumours of Ashley or the Reuben Brothers being involved with Castore seemed farfetched.

They Ashley rumour felt like cynicism, while the thought of the Reubens being involved was fanciful.

One suggested the Sports Direct man was doing things on the cheap once again. The other hinted at a takeover going through.

However, it has all been put to bed by Castore’s CEO Tom Beahon.

“Some of the stuff I’ve seen about the Reuben Brothers being investors or Mike Ashley are just fundamentally not true,” Beahon told the Chronicle.

“I know each one of my investors on a first name basis, I’ve got all of their numbers in my phone and I speak to them quite regularly to discuss what’s going on with the business.”

Realistically, the Castore CEO never should have had to make these comments.

The rumours were simply just that – rumours. But in an age where anyone can seemingly say anything on social media, it’s good to see Beahon ending all of the nonsense.

Castore are now the kit supplier for a club owned by Mike Ashley. They are set to open a store in Monument Mall which is owned by the Reuben Brothers. That is the extent Castore’s relationship with both.

Attention will now turn to their debut kit, which should excite supporters.
