The future of Newcastle United is in safe hands with Elliot Anderson according to Callum Wilson.
The Toon striker has spoke about Anderson on the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast, and has showered him with praise after a very impressive week in the black and white of Newcastle.
Anderson is enjoying a great run in the team. He has started the Magpies’ past two Premier League games, helping Newcastle pick up six points out of a possible six.
The 20-year-old was outstanding against Sheffield United despite not scoring, and is clearly a player who Eddie Howe now trusts. That was evident last week when he brought Anderson on at the San Siro against AC Milan in the Champions League.
The academy graduate is really solidifying himself as a first-team player at St James’ Park, much to the delight of Wilson.

Wilson has been asked about Anderson on the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
“Yeah, young lad who has come through the academy which is always good to see,” he said.
“He’s a good player. Confident lad. He’s got himself into the team after a loan spell that he had a few seasons ago. He’s worked his way up which is always nice to see.
“I think, personally, he’s going to be a good player for the future. He’s got his feet on the ground so I can’t see anything going to his head. He’s humble and he works hard. They’re the key components that you need to become a footballer and be successful at a club like Newcastle.”
Anderson will become even more important for Newcastle
The most important thing that Wilson says about Anderson is that he has his feet on the ground. That quality will really help him grow and develop.
He plays with confidence on the pitch, but he cetainly is not an arrogant character. He actually comes across as quite a shy individual, but he lets his football do the talking.
That should stand him in good stead for the future, as he continues to improve and enhance his game.
Anderson has proven himself to Howe, who now views him as a senior player rather than a youngster coming through. The trust is there, while Anderson is valuable in the sense that he can operate in multiple roles.
It is great having local lads in the side, even more so in this side as it is a team that is doing well and competing in the Champions League. Anderson belongs in this team, and is going to be a very important part of what will hopefully be a very bright future for Newcastle United.
