Callum Wilson makes big Newcastle prediction that fans will love

Callum Wilson believes things are going to improve at Newcastle United.

The mood around the club is incredible. At the start of October it was as low as it’s ever been. Then things completely changed.

The takeover went through, and now Steve Bruce has been replaced by Eddie Howe.

There is a real buzz among fans, and it looks as though the players feel the same.

Wilson has been speaking to the Chronicle, and believes the good times are going to return to St James’ Park.

“Our full squad is almost fit and we are going to be climbing up the Premier League,” Wilson told the Chronicle.

“You can’t lose game after game forever. The tables will turn.

“Now we have a new philosophy and a new style, and a new direction. Stick with us because the tide will turn. Ultimately we’ve got good days ahead.”

Results desperately need to improve. Newcastle are currently 19th and without a win this season. If results don’t drastically improve we’ll be playing Championship football.

But the arrival of Howe will hopefully lead to an upturn in fortunes.

The entertainers return?

However, Wilson isn’t just expecting results to change – he believes the way the team plays will be completely transformed.

“We’re going to see a lot more attacking football and a lot more goals. There will be more excitement and we’ll be getting people off their seats. That’s what people come to football matches to see.”

That is exactly what fans want to hear. They just want to be entertained. Even if we’re not challenging for honours, we want to be entertained.

We became one of the most popular clubs around in the 90s because of our attacking football. Kevin Keegan’s side were even dubbed ‘the entertainers’. It was a time when Toon fans loved watching their club going toe-to-toe with the best around.

Despite now being the richest club in the world, Toon fans aren’t expecting the world. Just to have a bit of hope and ambition is enough.

That’s what we’re getting from the new owners, and it should be reflected in the football Howe’s team plays.

Saturday will be the first chance to see Howe’s Magpies in action. But will he have had long enough with the players to implement his style? Here’s hoping.
