Bruno Guimaraes was asked which Newcastle United player sent new boy Sandro Tonali to Wetherspoons after a post went viral on X this week.

Italians are known for their excellent tastes in fashion, wine and especially food, so it’s no surprise to see that Sandro Tonali reserved a table in … Wetherspoons?

In a viral post on X this week somebody discovered a “reserved” sign on a table in a North East Wetherspoons that had the name ‘Tonali’ on the notice and sure enough, Newcastle United‘s £55million signing from AC Milan turned up to take his place at the table.

Tonali sat down for a fine meal and a cheap Moretti

If you’re not familiar with ‘Spoons then, firstly – how? and also well done, but it’s a chain of pubs all over the country that serve cheap beer and passable food – it’s not exactly a place that footballers on extortionate wages would choose to dine if we’re being honest.

So then, why did Sandro Tonali reserve a table at his local boozer?

Clearly someone at the club saw a golden opportunity for a prank – I have my suspicions who it was.

Sandro Tonali must have asked where is nice to go for food and the Newcastle prankster told him that Wetherspoons is the place to go for fine dining.

It’s genius really.

The big question on fans’ lips this week as been: Who set him up?

Bruno Guimaraes was asked about it on an X post by SportBible which had the Brazilian laughing hysterically saying “It’s a good question … no idea”.

Bruno clearly enjoyed the prank on Tonali

Bruno’s cheeky face suggests he knew who sent Tonali to ‘Spoons, but even if he doesn’t know who did it, he certainly enjoyed the prank.

So who do I think it was? There’s only one man in the Newcastle squad that I think is capable of such hilarious evil and that’s Jacob Murphy. The whole thing reeks of him.

I hope we find out who it was eventually as it was a stroke of genius.
