Miguel Almiron came off the bench to bag Newcastle United’s winner against Wolves on Sunday. As the players celebrated, one man stood alone, caught on match cam, Bruno Guimaraes had his own celebration.
As the players chased after Miggy to celebrate with him as he bagged Newcastle‘s second goal, Bruno was seen celebrating on his own, shouting in celebration before perching on an advertising hoarding and dabbing his face with a Brazil flag which he then threw into the crowd.
NUFC TV interviewer, Andy Sixsmith chuckled as he asked Bruno: “When Miggy scored all the team chased off after him, you went to the other side of the goal. What was going on?”
“I was too tired to go to the other side with the boys,” laughed Bruno. “I went to sit down a little and I see the time, I see the fans and it gave me some energy. I was really, very tired.”
Bruno leaves it all out on the pitch every week
At the end of the game Bruno collapsed on the pitch to have a breather showing that he’d left every bit of himself out there. It’s typical of his winning mentality and shows just how hard he tries to ensure Newcastle come away victorious.
Bruno is a born winner, you can see it when Newcastle get beat, he’s almost always inconsolable, it’s not just in cup finals, he will be visibly upset after a losing a league game. You can’t coach that level of passion, that desire to win. It’s all natural.
We must protect this man at all costs
Guimaraes has been playing with an ankle injury lately and even when injured he’s better than many, many other players in the league. That’s how good he is and how important he is to Newcastle and why fans shudder at the thought of losing him.
In the interview with NUFC TV he did mention the ankle injury and he said he feels fine now, so Friday we should have 100% Bruno in the middle.
