Bruno Guimaraes has now named which Newcastle United legend he wished he could played alongside.
Bruno has been one of Newcastle’s biggest stars in the last two years, but it would have been great to have seen him play alongside some of the most iconic names to wear a black and white shirt.
In a recent interview with the Premier League, the Brazilian revealed that he wishes he could have teamed up with Alan Shearer to form what would have been an incredible partnership.
Bruno and Shearer would have been unstoppable at Newcastle
Getting both players at the top of their game in one team would have been unbelievable to watch a dominant force in the Premier League that few would have been able to deal with.
As rightly pointed out by the 26-year-old, he would certainly have a lot more assists than he currently boasts, and who knows where the team could finish in the league.
Although it’s harsh on either Alexander Isak or Callum Wilson, putting Shearer into this side with Bruno and Joelinton feeding him balls from midfield would be a seriously impressive force.
Hopefully the Brazilian will be able to replicate something similar with his current teammates and perhaps go one step further than Shearer ever did by winning some silverware for Newcastle.
In the interview, Bruno said: “To play with, I love Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney but as a Newcastle player I have to choose Alan Shearer.
“I think if I played with him I would have more assists.”

Bruno can become the next Toon legend
Although he’s already become an icon on Tyneside for what he’s done for the club in such a short space of time, Bruno definitely has the potential to take that next step and become a legend at Newcastle.
The club are still alive and fighting in the FA Cup having knocked out Sunderland at the weekend, and another trip to Wembley would be brilliant for the fans.
But actually winning the cup would cement your name in Newcastle folklore for life, and he’d have to be considered on the same level as Shearer even if he’s not a local lad.
