There is so much excitement as Sandro Tonali prepares to make his Newcastle Untied return after a 10-month ban.

The 24-year-old has not been able to play since October 27th 2023, having been handed a 10-month suspension after being investigated for betting by the Italian Football Federation. It has been an extremely difficult period for Sandro Tonali.

But it is now over, and Tonali can once again focus on playing football. And his return should take place tonight, as Newcastle United face Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Hopefully he does feature at the City Ground, as he will be eager to quickly make up for lost time. Tonali has a point to prove, and the hope will be that he is now an even better player than he was 10 months ago.

It is a cliché, but Tonali is like a new signing for Newcastle United, and his teammate Bruno Guimaraes cannot wait to play alongside him again.

Bruno Guimaraes’ message to Sandro Tonali ahead of Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest

Ahead of Tonali’s return, he has spoken to the club’s official website. It is an excellent interview, as Tonali discusses how the past 10 months have been and how much he is looking forward to playing again.

The video has been shared on Instagram by Bruno Guimaraes, who has delivered a message of support to his Toon teammate ahead of tonight’s game.

Bruno wrote on his Instagram story: “We all missed you a lot frate! Everyone is very happy that you are back! Big player and also a great person! Welcome back and wishing you all the very best.”

Hopefully Tonali and Bruno play together tonight

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes is eager to play alongside Tonali again, having not had many chances to do it last season.

That should change tonight, with Eddie Howe hopefully putting out a very strong team to take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

It is a great chance to get Tonali back on the pitch, while starting Bruno alongside him would be a statement of intent as to how serious Howe is taking the cup competition.

Tonali’s English has improved so much

It is going to be great to see Tonali play in a black and white shirt again. And it is also excellent to hear how much his English has improved.

The interview on the club’s official website is about 14 minutes long, and he probably does half of it in English and half in Italian. He has made real progress since arriving in England just over a year ago, and that will massively help him ahead of his return to action.

Tonali has worked tremendously hard to become fluent in English, having struggled with the language barrier when he first joined from AC Milan.
