Bruno Guimaraes and Newcastle United are enjoying a brilliant season so far, and the midfielder believes that it is largely down to Eddie Howe’s ability as a manager.
The 45-year-old has been at St James’ Park for just more than a year now, and has orchestrated a remarkable revival on Tyneside.
When he joined, the club were in the relegation zone and looked certain to go down. In November 2022, his side sit third in the Premier League and look like genuine contenders for Europe.
Big signings like Bruno and Sven Botman have helped, but they are not the only reasons for Newcastle’s success. The likes of Joelinton and Miguel Almiron have massively improved, achieving unimaginable heights under Howe’s guidance.
The Newcastle manager’s reputation is at an all-time high, and he and his team are working miracles at St James’ Park. That is the view of Bruno, who believes they are the reason the team is doing so well.
Bruno on Howe’s importance to Newcastle
The 25-year-old has spoken to Spanish outlet AS, and was asked what Howe is like as a manager day-to-day.
“Eddie is a fantastic trainer,” Bruno said.
“A deep football connoisseur. He knows exactly what he wants on a day-to-day basis and in matches; and he is accurate when it comes to transmitting his knowledge to the group.
“He manages to extract the best from each player. He and his entire coaching staff are the key to Newcastle’s current success.”

It is wonderful to hear Bruno speak so glowingly about Howe and the rest of the Toon coaches.
It would not be a surprise if Bruno barely knew a thing about Howe when he signed, but he certainly loves working with him now. And the feeling must be mutual.
While Newcastle have improved massively under Howe, Bruno is the one who makes us tick. He was the missing link in midfield, capable of progressing the team from defence to attack.
As far as transformative signings go, he’s up there with…Kieran Trippier. Our recruitment has been so good this year, hasn’t it?!
On paper, this isn’t the third most talented team in the Premier League. But Howe has got players playing better than they ever have before in their careers, and it is resulting in a sensational Newcastle team.
The Toon boss sounds relentless on the training ground, leaving no stone unturned. And his methods are clearly working, as Newcastle are suddenly a winning machine that cannot be stopped.
