Both Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Hall have praised Jacob Ramsey following his fine performance during Newcastle United’s Champions League draw with Barcelona.
This has not been an easy season for Ramsey, who has often struggled to convince following his move to Newcastle United – although that is true of most of the club’s summer signings.

Still, Ramsey played well for Newcastle against Barcelona and seems set to start out in Spain in next week’s second leg as a result.
On Instagram, Ramsey posted a collage of images from the game and captioned it: “All to play for next week.”
Hall, who was also brilliant in the match, responded with (in a positive sense): “Joke.”
Guimaraes, meanwhile, wrote: “What a player.”

It’s been a stop-start season for Ramsey thus far.
While the 24-year-old has made 33 appearances, only 16 have come from the start.
An ankle injury sustained against Leeds in August derailed his progress, but his performance against Barca was perhaps his best yet.

As per FotMob data, Ramsey covered 11.3km of distance on Tuesday night against the Spanish champions and proved resolute defensively.
The ex-England U21 international made four ball recoveries, one interception and four tackles.
On the ball, Ramsey made three passes into the final third and completed his only attempted dribble.
Eddie Howe thinks Ramsey can be “elite” for Newcastle United
Magpies manager Eddie Howe has been criticised for the signings the club made last summer – with Howe thought to have been heavily involved in the process.
While that criticism has been warranted, it’s important to praise him when things work out.
Though the jury is still out on the former Villa midfielder, Howe thinks Ramsey can be an “elite” midfielder for Newcastle.
Tuesday’s showing was certainly an indication that it could be the case.
Hopefully, Ramsey can build on this going forward. Next week’s game out in Spain will be another huge test.
