Bruno Guimaraes admits that Newcastle fans are ‘crazy’ about him

Newcastle United fans absolutely love Bruno Guimaraes, and they have done ever since day one.

When he was first named on the bench for the Magpies against Everton in February, he was met with chants of ‘Bruno, Bruno, Bruno’. He hadn’t even kicked a ball.

Then he started to play, and the love for Bruno grew stronger. He has been outstanding since his £35million move from Lyon, becoming a hero at St James’ Park.

Bruno has the ability to become a Premier League superstar, and has been one of the best players in the entire division so far this season. It is a joy to watch him play for Newcastle, and he is well on his way to becoming a club legend.

The 25-year-old is adored on Tyneside, and has now spoke about some of his encounters with the Toon Army.

Bruno has been speaking to Brazilian outlet UOL ahead of the World Cup, and discussed the affection he receives from Newcastle fans.

“Guys are crazy about me, I swear,” Bruno said.

“It’s a little similar to what Athletico fans did, but maybe a little more. I had never experienced this.

“I was recently told that 70% of team jersey sales are in my name. I’ve seen people with tattoos of my face, flags with my face, music. I hit a half metre pass and they sing ‘Bruno, Bruno’. There’s my shirt all over town. Wherever I go on the street, I take a picture, I feel like a mayor. Guys scream my name.

“I don’t understand, but I’m happy.”

The love Bruno receives is insane, but it is testament to the way he plays in black and white. He is probably one of the best players the club has ever had.

The way he links the entire team together is transformative, and we are a much worse side without him. Goals, assists, tricks, flicks and tackles – he can literally do it all.

He may think he gets cheered for the simple things, but it is the way he makes it look simple.

Bruno better get used to being mobbed by Toon fans, because it isn’t going to stop. The mood around the club is great right now, and it is surely only going to get even better given the ambitions of the owners.

And Bruno is a big part of those plans. He is a player for the present and the future, and will play an important role in any success Newcastle have in the coming years.
