Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe no doubt turned some heads after what he achieved on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
It is absolutely baffling to Newcastle supporters why Eddie Howe doesn’t seem to get the respect he deserves in the media.
In fact, it’s a question that The Daily Mail has asked this week too, suggesting that had a manager with a foreign sounding name achieved what he has, he’d be lauded all over the papers like Roberto De Zerbi.
Howe has been a victim of the media’s obsession with foreign coaches
It’s a great point. There seems to be something in England where the media and some pundits tend to ignore the achievements of English managers and praise the efforts of foreign managers as if they’re the second coming.
However, after masterminding Newcastle’s 4-1 demolition of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, Howe is starting to turn heads. It wasn’t too long ago that Simon Jordan had to back-track on his assessment of Howe which resulted in him hailing the former Bournemouth boss as ‘brilliant‘.

Of course that extra attention comes with the worry for Newcastle fans that Howe could be tempted away by another club.
Howe is a Geordie! Newcastle is now a part of his DNA
Fortunately, that doesn’t appear to be something fans need worry about as Eddie Howe is heavily invested in the project at Newcastle. He’s worked too hard to get the team playing his way that it would be insane for him to leave now and have to start all over again elsewhere.

The article in the Mail also suggests that Howe has no plans of going anywhere saying: “Howe has no desire to be at any club but Newcastle: And for all the talk of him finally being recognised as one of Europe’s elite managers, he has no desire to be anywhere but Newcastle. The club and the city are under his skin, as the tracksuit that doubles as his second skin confirms.”
I’m not sure there could be any better news I could read today. Eddie Howe is a Geordie!
