Newcastle United have been dealt some bittersweet news on Tino Livramento.
Livramento came off injured for Newcastle United against Fulham with what looked like a worrying knee complaint.
After the game, Howe confirmed he was concerned about Livramento, who is now certain to miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.
What did you think of Lewis Miley’s performance at right-back?
He might be needed there for a while now Tino is injured 😟
With Kieran Trippier, Lewis Hall and Dan Burn also missing that game, Newcastle United are down to the bare bones when it comes to options at full-back.
The fact that Hall and Livramento are two of Newcastle’s best players makes it all the more frustrating.
However, there has been a slight piece of good news to have emerged.
Tino Livramento avoids serious knee injury at Newcastle United
According to The Daily Mail, Livramento has not suffered serious ligament damage.
That means his season is likely far from over, although he will be missing for a period of time that is yet to have been decided.
Hall, meanwhile, is expected to be involved in Saturday’s game against his former club.
The injury list grows 🤕 Who will we miss the most vs Chelsea?
There's a chance Lewis Hall could return, but the rest could be absent.
Newcastle United’s replacement for Tino Livramento has already been confirmed
In an ideal world, Howe would be able to bring Trippier in as Livramento’s replacement.
Sadly, however, that cannot happen. The veteran defender suffered a hamstring injury in late November and is not expected to return until the New Year. Emil Krafth is also injured.
Still, Lewis Miley could replace Livramento at right-back for Newcastle.
The teenager played there against Marseille in the Champions League last month for a brief period, before starring in that role against Fulham on Wednesday.
It is not an ideal situation to be in but at least Miley has impressed when called upon.
It is good to hear that Livramento’s season is not over but it’s difficult to ignore his absence – no matter how long – being an absolutely huge blow for the club.
