Newcastle will reportedly face competition from Norwich City if they want to sign Billy Gilmour on loan this summer.
It was claimed in May that the Magpies would be interested in signing Gilmour or Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea, if either player was made available by the Blues.
There’s been a lot of excitement about Gilmour in recent weeks, particularly after his performance against England last Friday night.

The midfielder was the star of the show at Wembley, winning the man of the match award.
Gilmour impressed a lot of pundits, with the likes of Patrick Vieira praising his performance.
“I think he had a terrific game,” Vieira said on ITV.
“I really love his technical ability. He loves to get on the ball.”
He’s been in the headlines after the game too, testing positive for COVID, which has led to England players Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount having to self-isolate.
But on the pitch, Gilmour is a star in the making. He would be the perfect signing for Newcastle, who could do with a player like him in the middle of the park.
However, it looks like Newcastle will face competition from newly promoted Norwich.

Billy Gilmour set to be a man in demand on loan
According to the Athletic, Norwich also want to sign the 20-year-old on loan. Wolves have also been named as a possible destination for Gilmour.
The Canaries are set to return to the Premier League, and are looking to boost their squad as they aim to avoid relegation this time.
They have already signed Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen, while they are also keen on Newcastle target Kristoffer Ajer.
Chelsea will reportedly loan Gilmour out, which is good news for Newcastle. However, there is no guarantee that they would be able to complete a deal ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Norwich have an ace up their sleeve, with manager Daniel Farke previously working under Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund. That could give them an edge.
Combine that with reports that they’re ahead of us in the race for Ajer, and it looks like we could be embarrassed by a newly promoted team in the transfer market. But that’s nothing new, is it?
