Ayoze Perez is reportedly heading to Leicester City for £30million. Rafa Benitez is now managing in China. And takeover talk from the Bin Zayed Group has gone cold.
There were rumours earlier in the week that a statement was on its way from BZG, but that is yet to be released. It might not happen at all.

Most fans are dubious that a takeover is even happening now. With just over five weeks to go until the season starts, it seems like the time for a change of ownership may have passed us by.
Considering the fact that Mike Ashley has reportedly named Roberto Martinez as his top manager target, that would suggest that a takeover is nowhere near. You wouldn’t bother going all out for a manager like Martinez if you were set to leave in the very near future.
BZG were reportedly closing in on a £350m deal for Newcastle
More than a month later, Mike Ashley still owns Newcastle United and there has been no word on a takeover from the club.

And if BZG are still keen on purchasing Newcastle, they should be asking for a bit money off.
A club managed by Rafa Benitez are an attractive prospect. You’d be taking over a club that already has a world class manager. But instead, Ashley let the Spaniard walk away at the end of his contract.

And now we’re selling one of our best players in Ayoze Perez. So is the club really worth £350million now that it’s a top manager and top player light?
BT Sport used a house analogy when Rio Ferdinand and Jake Humphrey debated the situation at Newcastle back in January. And it appears that Ashley is taking that approach. ‘They’ll probably want to do it up themselves, there’s no point making it look nice’.
