Newcastle United could only draw with Watford last weekend, and the search for a first victory of the season goes on.
The Magpies had a golden chance to take all three points at Vicarage Road.
But wastefulness in front of goal allowed the Hornets to get back on level terms in the game.
It’s now seven matches without a victory in 2021/22, and supporters are extremely worried.
And Steve Bruce’s position as manager doesn’t seem to be under any immediate threat, which is causing major frustration.
One small positive of the season so far is the form of Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Frenchman has scored two goals and made three assists so far, and has been playing his part.
He was lively against Watford, and after the game, Hornets stopper Ben Foster was very complimentary about the 24-year-old.
As some people will know, Foster has a popular YouTube channel called The Cycling GK, and uploads vlogs from matchdays.
He regularly does giveaways for his subscribers, and his gift this weekend was the shirt Saint-Maximin wore during the game.
Of the winger, Foster said (13:50): “He’s an absolute baller.
“Today he was electric. The guy is so sharp it’s a joke. He worries me a little bit actually. But we kept him quiet thankfully. A point against Newcastle, I think it’s half-decent.”
More praise for ASM
Foster is never one to hold back from giving his honest opinion about fellow professionals.
He clearly rates Saint-Maximin very highly indeed.
It’s probable that a lot of other players in the Premier League feel a similar type of way about the former Nice man.
Certainly at times, you can see on the pitch how defenders worry when he is in full flight.
