It was obvious that Ayoze Perez would be a huge loss to Newcastle as soon as his move to Leicester was confirmed.
We lost our top goalscorer, and the Magpies are yet to sign a replacement. And after just one game for each side, the Spaniard has already done the business for his new team, while his old struggle.
Against Wolves, Yoshinori Muto was appalling. The Japanese forward barely got a kick, showing nothing to suggest he can fill the void left by Perez. We were toothless in attack, with our best chance falling to Javi Manquillo. That pretty much says it all.
As for Perez, he isn’t looking back. He made his first Leicester appearance on Tuesday night. Brendan Rodgers’ side took on Scunthorpe United, with his new signing scoring the only goal of the game.
While it’s only a friendly, Perez has proved that he can be the difference for Leicester. Meanwhile, there was no one in black and white out in China capable of doing the same for Newcastle.
Joelinton is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to St James’ Park, but he won’t be enough to fill the void left by both Perez and Salomon Rondon.
While Newcastle fans bemoan a horrific performance on an awful day for the club, Leicester fans are very happy with the former Magpie.
Perez impresses the Leicester faithful
Impressive first half from the lads yesterday. Perez looks to have carried his form from the back end of last season into this. Could be a great buy for us

Perez impressive. Instinctive positional play, linking up very well with Tielemans, also Vardy. Close with his first efforts, but expertly dispatched his third. Deserving lead from a fluid opening half of play, from what seems to contain most of #LCFC’s starting XI. #LeiScu
