Arsenal’s Christian Norgaard admits he’s been really impressed by two Newcastle summer signings

Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard is wary of Newcastle United’s attacking options ahead of Sunday’s meeting between the two sides.

Newcastle United vs Arsenal at St James’ Park is the latest instalment of a budding rivalry between the two sides.

Indeed, Newcastle have largely had the better of it up against the Gunners on Tyneside in recent seasons but head into Sunday’s clash in relatively poor form.

Eddie Howe’s side have won only one of their opening five Premier League games this season, while Mikel Arteta’s men are looking to close the gap on title rivals Liverpool to just two points.

Much has been made about Newcastle’s lack of goals without Alexander Isak but Norgaard doesn’t think it’ll be an easy game considering the firepower the Toon have brought into their squad this summer.

Christian Norgaard impressed by Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa

Newcastle spent big money on both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to replace Isak and Callum Wilson this summer and Norgaard has been impressed.

Woltemade, of course, scored the winner against Wolves on his Premier League debut earlier this month. Meanwhile, Wissa – who played with Norgaard at Brentford – is injured.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Gunners star talked of how dangerous the pair can be.

Woltemade will surely be in line to start for Newcastle on Sunday, with Wissa ruled out until at least mid-October due to a knee injury.

“Wissa hasn’t played yet, has he? He is injured at the moment? OK,” he said (via Standard Sport).

“But I know Woltemade is a good striker as well and he will give them a different type of striker. But without Isak, Newcastle and St James’ Park will always be difficult.”

Nick Woltemade now set for his toughest Newcastle United test yet

There have certainly been promising flashes from Newcastle United’s club-record signing

It’s not an ideal situation for him. If Wissa was fit, Woltemade could have been bedded into the team on a more gradual basis.

However, the Newcastle United manager has not had that luxury.

Woltemade is expected to start for Newcastle United against Arsenal and it’ll no doubt be his toughest test yet.

The Gunners (2) are the only team in the Premier League to have conceded fewer goals than Newcastle (3), so he’ll have to be at his very best yet.
