As Newcastle look forward to seeing their new signing in action, Sandro Tonali‘s departure from AC Milan is still being discussed in Italy with La Gazetta dello Sport asking form Italy international coach and AC Milan manager, Arrigo Sacchi his thoughts on the move.

While Tonali has become the most expensive Italian of all time, and by extension, Milan’s record sale, Gazetta dello Sport asked Sacchi if he would have sold Tonali to which he replied (via Sempre Milan): “How can you say no to those figures? And then also the player, who was given an salary offer equal to double or perhaps more than what he perceived, probably expressed a desire to leave. He’s human.”

While rival fans angry bash out envious tweets saying how Tonali is overrated and didn’t want to join Newcastle, we’ve seen plenty of reports that have said he wanted to move and is excited to play in the Premier League and be a part of the Newcastle project.

As Sacchi suggested, Tonali could well have pushed for the move to Newcastle himself with the offer of higher wages on the table and a chance to prove himself overseas.

Whatever the truth, he’s here now and will soon link up with his new teammates in training before heading off with the team to the USA for a pre-season tour.

Tonali who is on Tyneside and has been spotted at St James’ Park today, has been told he can have an extended break before linking up with Newcastle in training owing to his involvement in the Under 21 European Championship.

The only fear I have with Tonali is that it may take him time to adapt to life in England and the English game and some fans could jump on his back – not necessarily Newcastle fans. If that happens his confidence could drop and it could take even longer to see the best of him.

I’m sure Eddie Howe has all that worked out though, and frankly, who cares what other fans thing. Bring on their tears. We have one of Italy’s best prospects who is already showing signs of greatness.
