Newcastle United will officially play against Liverpool in the 2025 Carabao Cup final.

The Magpies booked their place at Wembley on Wednesday night, with Newcastle United beating Arsenal to advance to the final.

Eddie Howe and co had to wait 24 hours to discover who they will be facing, as Liverpool came from behind to knock Tottenham Hotspur out. The Reds had a one-goal deficit going into the second leg, but won 4-0 at Anfield to blow Ange Postecoglou’s side away.

The result means it will be Newcastle United vs Liverpool at Wembley. If the Magpies are going to end their trophy drought, they will need to beat Arne Slot’s Premier League leaders.

Arne Slot previews Newcastle United vs Liverpool Carabao Cup final

It is the most difficult final imaginable, and Liverpool boss Arne Slot has issued a warning to Newcastle United ahead of the Carabao Cup final in March.

Following Liverpool’s semi-final win, Slot spoke to Sky Sports about reaching the final. He paid tribute to the Newcastle United team, and is well aware of how good Eddie Howe’s side is.

“It’s a special stadium for English people, and also for Dutch people because we know the history of that stadium and the history of the League Cup final as well,” he said.

“Very pleased to go there, but we also know that we’re going to face a very, very tough opponent. I saw them yesterday and I saw them this season. We already played them once.

“They’re a very good team, but they’re going to face a very good team as well.”

The last time Newcastle United beat Liverpool

Newcastle United will now go into the Carabao Cup final as underdogs.

This Liverpool team is incredible, as they continue to challenge on all fronts. Arne Slot has stunned everyone with his start to life at Anfield, and it could result in him winning his first Liverpool trophy in March.

The Magpies will be aiming to ensure that does not happen, as Newcastle bid to end their trophy drought.

They will have to do it the hard way, as Liverpool are a club that Newcastle really struggle to beat.

The last time Newcastle United won against Liverpool was in December 2015. Newcastle won 2-0 at St James’ Park, back when Steve McClaren was manager.

Since then, Newcastle have drawn five and lost 11 against the Reds.

Eddie Howe has really struggled against Liverpool since becoming Newcastle United manager. His only positive result was the 3-3 draw earlier this season.

The two sides will meet once more before the Carabao Cup final, with Newcastle heading to Anfield in the Premier League on February 26th.
