Feyenoord manager Arne Slot got what he wanted this summer after missing out on signing 19-year-old winger who signed for Newcastle United for £7million.
Newcastle managed to get to the head of the pack to sign young Gambian forward Yankuba Minteh from OB Odense this summer, coughing up around £7million for the rapid youngster.
One of the sides interested in Minteh was Dutch champions Feyenoord as revealed by their manager Arne Slot recently.
Minteh still ended up at Feyenoord after signing for Newcastle
Minteh does now play for Feyenoord after agreeing a season-long loan deal immediately after signing for Newcastle.
Arne Slot told Dutch site Fr12 how Minteh was on the Feyenoord radar before he signed for Newcastle saying: “Our scouts were also impressed by his year at Odense. At one point, Dennis te Kloese came to the technical staff (to recommend him).

“Minteh went to Newcastle United and the English club were looking for a club to loan him to. That’s how he came to us.”
Minteh has three goals and an assist already this season
Since arriving at Feyenoord Minteh has been very impressive and has picked up a few goals for the club already. In seven Eredivisie appearances, Minteh has picked up three goals and an assist. He’s also played over an hour in the Champions League.

As far as loan moves go I don’t think Newcastle could have asked for much more from Feyenoord in terms have aiding Minteh’s development.
I imagine it’s going to be a sad day for Feyenoord when he departs to return to Newcastle.
