Antonio Barreca has caused quite a stir on social media.
Ahead of the clash with Crystal Palace, Newcastle posted some training pictures on their official Instagram account. But one player was absent from the snaps, and he was quick to remind the club.
On his account, the Italian uploaded the picture of himself in training, accompanied by a rather cheeky caption.
“Ehy @NUFC I’m here too! Have you forgotten?” Barreca wrote on his Instagram page.
The 23-year-old then changed the caption to: “I’m doing my best to be ready for the first chance.”

The club ‘responded’ by posting the picture on Instagram then including it when they posted a selection on Twitter on Thursday morning.
Much ado about nothing
This whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Barreca simply made a little joke on his social media account, and now some fans have questioned his attitude.
We haven’t seen much of the on loan defender since he arrived. He came on as a substitute to make his debut against Tottenham, but he can’t even get on the bench nowadays.
Some fans have pondered why we even bothered signing him.
Was Barreca’s Instagram post a ‘social media outburst’, or was he simply just making a joke about his picture not being featured? I think it’s got to be the latter, but he certainly got fans talking either way.
