Anthony Gordon has posted a message to the Newcastle United fans after yesterday’s brilliant victory over Sunderland.
Gordon played very well down the left wing where he tormented Sunderland’s full-back all afternoon and proved to be key in winning the penalty to seal a 3-0 win in the FA Cup third round.
After the game, Gordon took to Instagram where he posted a message to the Newcastle fans as well as a photo of the former Everton man surrounded by Geordies who made the short trip to the Stadium of Light.
Gordon pokes fun at Sunderland after big win
Gordon has arguably been Newcastle’s best player this season, but he’s certainly been the most threatening with 13 goals and assists in the Premier League this season.
The winger again showed his true qualities in a huge game for Newcastle in the North East as they faced the first Tyne-Wear derby for eight years and won for the first time since a 1-0 victory in 2011.
Gordon forced his defender, Trai Hume, to pick up an early yellow card in the game and after that the England youth international was given all the space he could have hoped for down the left.
After the game, the 22-year-old couldn’t help but have a dig at the opposition supporters and playing up to the Newcastle fans who surrounded him.
Gordon captioned his post with: “You’ve seen United… UTFM”

Gordon’s form is starting to pick back up
After a brilliant start to the campaign which saw Gordon getting shouts to be in the England squad ahead of the Euro 2024 in the summer, the attacker has suffered a slight slump in form, but it’s largely been out of his hands.
It’s not been for a lack of effort, but Newcastle’s options down the left have been very limited this season with Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson and Joelinton all picking up injuries in the season.
It has meant that Gordon has had to practically play every minute of every game and eventually it has caught up to him, though he looked at his best again on Saturday.
