Anthony Gordon has sent a three word message to Newcastle United fans after a enjoying a week-long break from football.

Newcastle have taken the last seven days off with a two week break between the defeat to Manchester City and the FA Cup tie against Fulham on Saturday, so players are only just now returning to training.

On Instagram, the winger suggested he’d enjoyed a good break away from football but is ready to return for what is a huge second half of the season.

Gordon says he’s ‘ready’ to go again for Newcastle

The 22-year-old has arguably been Newcastle’s most important players this season and it’s not only because of his brilliant quality in the final third but also as he’s managed to stay injury free.

In a season where Eddie Howe has lost most of his squad at some point due to injuries, it’s a miracle that someone like Gordon who relies a lot on his quickness has managed to avoid any serious knocks.

Howe will be hoping that that’s not tempting fate as he’s absolutely going to need the former Everton man if Newcastle are to achieve anything in what’s left of the season.

As for the fans, they will be excited to see a fully rested Gordon back in action after what feels like months where he was playing every single game for 90 minutes and it had eventually caught up to him.

On Instagram, Gordon posted the message: “Rested and ready.”

Newcastle’s season is definitely not over

Following the rumours that the club could sell Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles, there has been a bit of a feeling amongst the fans that this season is already sort of a write off.

However, the Premier League table suggests otherwise as Newcastle are actually only a couple of good results away from being in a Europa League position which would be considered a brilliant achievement.

It’s only because they finished in the Champions League places last year that people won’t see sixth as progress but in terms of what the owners are trying to achieve long-term it absolutely is.

Another year in Europe would be huge for Newcastle in terms of the experience and money they would gain as well as the chance to compete for another trophy to end the drought.
