Newcastle United fans have had their say on the weekend’s game against Chelsea and who the best player was.
It was a game of two halves for Newcastle on Saturday; one of pure elation as Nick Woltemade fired two goals to give the Magpies a healthy lead, and one of agony as Chelsea fought their way back.

After seeing more points dropped from a winning position, questions have to be asked of the Newcastle players and the fact they can’t maintain their intensity for a full game.
Still, there were some very good performances all round on Saturday. So, who was the man of the match?

Nick Woltemade beats Anthony Gordon to man of the match
In our man of the match poll over the weekend, Nick Woltemade just managed to secure the majority of the votes but he had stern competition from the likes of Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, and Lewis Miley.
Woltemade got just over 33% of the votes (173 votes) after his impressive brace.
We thought it was Woltemade’s best game, and supporters agreed. They wrote, “cracking centre-forward display” and “can’t look past the big man up top.”
Miley also got a lot of love, though. A couple of fans named the youngster in the comments while one even said: “Miley really is a force to be reckoned with.”
Meanwhile, Gordon was praised by Bruno Guimaraes after the game, and our readers felt the same. He got 24% (124) of the votes, with comments saying he was “unplayable” and “so good.”

Big-game players continue to deliver
What’s really promising for Newcastle is that the likes of Woltemade and Gordon are performing consistently well now rather than in fits and spurts.
Gordon in particular is a menace when he plays against the big six. He’s the same in Europe, too. He simply rises to the occasion, and Newcastle desperately need that.
Aside from the Tyne-Wear derby, Woltemade is the same. He could easily have shied away from things after that game but Woltemade has reacted brilliantly and proven his worth once more.
