Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley sent a message to the club’s supporters on social media after a big win against Fulham yesterday.
Despite no trains being put on for travelling fans to return home, the away end was packed and in great spirits as the team secured their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Staveley has now posted on Instagram to state how impressed she was with the team’s performance and how grateful she was to see the fanbase backing the team in the capital once again.
Staveley says Newcastle were ‘brilliant’ against Fulham
It wasn’t a vintage Newcastle performance under Eddie Howe, particularly in the first half, but they got the job done without hitting their best form, something that’s been very rare this season.
For just the second time in 16 years Newcastle will be in the fifth round of the tournament as they hope to book their place at Wembley for the second consecutive season after last year’s Carabao Cup final heartbreak.
There was some individual brilliance from certain players at times, but overall Howe will want the team to be at a much better standard if they are to come away with anything against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
But despite that, Staveley was very impressed with what she saw and was in awe of the travelling supporters who once again made an arduous journey down to London.
On Instagram, Staveley said: “Huge congratulations to our team! Yesterday’s performance was brilliant. Thank you to our amazing fans for showing up for our lads, even with the absence of trains! 🖤🤍 #weareunited“

Newcastle prepare for exciting end to the season
Although it started off with a number of disappointments with a Champions League exit and a long list of injuries, Newcastle have the chance to end the season on high with Europe and an FA Cup still within their reach.
Getting the likes of Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock will be absolutely crucial, but also returning to playing just one game a week should also have a positive impact on results which haven’t gone Newcastle’s way as of late.
Staveley and co will be watching with a keen eye as Newcastle and Howe make a real fight out of it, especially with the next run of fixtures looking a lot kinder than the recent run the team have been on.
It could have a huge impact on what Newcastle plan to do and what they can do in the summer after what has been a pretty uneventful January window so far.
