It’s official – Eddie Howe is the new Newcastle United manager.
The 43-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Magpies, signalling his return to management after leaving Bournemouth last year.
Howe has a huge job on his hands, with Newcastle currently 19th in the Premier League and without a win so far.
He watched his new side draw 1-1 with Brighton on Saturday evening, and is now ready to get to work with his new squad of players.

Howe will have just shy of two weeks to prepare his team for his first game in charge – a home clash with Brentford on November 20th. The atmosphere inside St James’ Park should be electric on that day as fans welcome Howe to the club.
And Amanda Staveley has done just that following the club’s latest announcement.
What has Amanda Staveley said about Howe’s appointment?
“We have been incredibly impressed by Eddie through what has been a rigorous recruitment process,” she said.
“As well as his obvious achievements with AFC Bournemouth, where he had a transformational impact, he is a passionate and dynamic coach who has clear ideas about taking this team and club forward.
“He is a great fit for what we are trying to build here. We are delighted to welcome Eddie and his staff to St James’ Park and very much look forward to working together towards our collective ambitions.”

Staveley isn’t the only member of the consortium to comment on the arrival of Howe.
Her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, simply wrote on Twitter: “Onwards and upwards.”
Alan Shearer reacts to Eddie Howe news
Club legend Alan Shearer has had his say too on social media. He wrote on Twitter: “Welcome. Good luck Eddie. We all hope you can bring us some much needed drive and ambition.”
As usual, Shearer sums up what fans are thinking. We need a massive boost on the pitch, and hopefully Howe is the man to bring it. Hope is the key word – that is what the takeover has brought back to Newcastle United.
Howe has had a lot of time out of the game after his Bournemouth tenure ended in disappointment.
But there were more highs than lows on the south coast for Howe. And hopefully there will be plenty of highs at St James’ Park for the new Newcastle United manager.
Howe-ay the lads!
