Ally McCoist admits he’s ‘not happy’ about the Jesse Lingard to Newcastle situation

Ally McCoist has reacted furiously to Manchester United not letting Jesse Lingard join Newcastle this month.

According to The Guardian, Man Utd Proposed a £2.5million loan fee and an extra £12million if the Magpies stayed up. The same report claimed Lingard was left ‘dismayed’ by the outcome.

The 29-year-old’s contract runs out this summer, so he can decide where he ends up after the season ends. However, a loan move would’ve allowed him more game time before he then decided his fate come the summer.

McCoist thinks Newcastle should’ve got the same loan deal as West Ham

McCoist isn’t pleased with the way Man Utd handled the Lingard business, and expressed his views on TalkSPORT.

He said: “If Manchester United are taking advantage of the fact Newcastle’s owners have plenty of dough, I’m not happy with it. They should’ve got the same deal as when Lingard went to West Ham.

“If they got £12million off West Ham last year for the same deal – ok, fair enough.

“But if they’re just trying to take advantage of Newcastle and it’s affecting the boy, I’m not happy. I just want to see Jesse Lingard play.”

Ex-Rangers man is spot on

McCoist certainly hits the nail on the head here. The treatment of Lingard has not been handled well by Man United.

It seems like he just wants a place to play first-team football. But all the Red Devils are interested in is making some cash before he leaves in the summer.

Unfortunately, this approach to transfers is something Newcastle will have to get used to. We all know that football is more and more just becoming a business and Lingard seems a victim of that.

Often the opinions that are present on TalkSPORT do often cause frustration from Newcastle fans. However, Ally McCoist is right here and some Toon fans will totally agree.

The situation is unfair not just on the club, but Lingard too. The survival fee indicates that Man Utd think they can use the Toon Army’s desperate situation to drum up more cash.
