Full-back Max Aarons is reportedly up for sale, following recent transfer links to Newcastle United.
The Athletic have claimed today that Norwich City will not stand in the Englishman should a suitable offer arrive this summer.
The Canaries are yet to receive any proposals.
It was reported by 90min at the end of April that the Magpies have asked to be kept informed about Aarons’ situation.
Right-back is an area of slight weakness for Newcastle at the moment.
DeAndre Yedlin departed in January to join Galatasaray, meaning the options available to Steve Bruce at the moment are Jacob Murphy, Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo.
Murphy really stepped up in 2020/21 operating as a wing-back, but Newcastle still need to strengthen.
Aarons played all but one game in the Championship in 20/21, scoring a couple of goals and laying on five assists.
According to Transfermarkt, he still has three years remaining on his contract.
Opportunity knocks for Newcastle?
News of Norwich’s apparent willingness to sell should pique the attention of Newcastle.
Aarons is a quality player and has the potential to be a really top right-back.
Newcastle’s move for Jamal Lewis last year hasn’t really worked out, so there might be some reservations.
But Toon officials should at least test the waters, and perhaps even offer Lewis as a sweetener.
