Allan Saint-Maximin has taken to Twitter to post a cryptic tweet, and the timing of it is very interesting.

At 9:31am on Wednesday, the Frenchman – who Transfermarkt state stands at 1.73m (5 foot 7 inches) – posted a mere egg-timer emoji, suggesting that something could be imminent.
Then, roughly an hour after that tweet was posted, The Daily Mail reported at 10:28am that the former OGC Nice winger is set to be handed a new six-year contract by Newcastle to reward him for his scintillating displays.

It seems simplistic to pair the two things together given the timing, although one can’t help but be intrigued by Saint-Maximin’s cryptic tweet just moments before The Daily Mail’s report broke.
Regardless of that, there’s no denying that the attacker deserves a new deal.
It was his Man of the Match display against Burnley before the international break which secured all three points for the Magpies. Saint-Maximin’s well-taken opener, before his mesmeric run and cross for Callum Wilson, helped earn the win.
The winger is definitely a player Steve Bruce loves.

After the 23-year-old recorded three assists in one game against Bournemouth last term, the Magpies boss said (via The Northern Echo): ‘Three assists in a game just shows what he’s capable of. There are still things he has to learn, but he’s a real, real talent, and a real find for the club. He gets you off your seat.’
No timeframe was mentioned regarding when Saint-Maximin will put pen to paper on his new deal.
However, his extremely cryptic tweet could suggest an announcement is imminent.
