Allan Saint-Maximin has uploaded an image of himself in the gym, after missing Saturday’s draw with West Ham United.
The Frenchman missed the 1-1 result, with Eddie Howe saying before the game that the issue had come as a result of him picking up a knock against Aston Villa.

Howe said, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo: “He got a kick on his calf against Villa – I think you saw him limping towards the end of the game.
“He didn’t train this week. We hoped he’d been fit, but, obviously, he didn’t make the game. Hopefully nothing too serious, but it was enough to keep him out today.”
Saint-Maximin’s absence proved costly as Newcastle failed to make it four wins on the spin.
Jacob Murphy replaced the 24-year-old on the left wing and, to his credit, did put in a good performance at the London Stadium.
It seems Saint-Maximin’s issue isn’t too serious, as Howe hoped would be the case.

Today the player has uploaded on his Instagram Story, showing himself in the gym.
It is unclear what he was working on exactly. It’s a Boomerang, and the camera does flash to show a treadmill. But undoubtedly it is just a positive sign that he’s in there.
Up next for Newcastle is Brentford down in London, and Magpies fans will be praying Saint-Maximin will be back for the clash.
Just recently the former Nice star has been in really good form, his performance against Everton being particularly special.
Newcastle need Saint-Maximin fit for crunch clash with Brentford
This is an encouraging post from Saint-Maximin, and hopefully he’ll be fine to feature this weekend against Brentford.
It could potentially be a difficult game. The Bees might be in poor form right now, but they’ll be acutely aware that a Newcastle win on Saturday will take the Magpies above them in the table.

They’ll be well up for it, and Newcastle need to be on it at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Saint-Maximin has sprung back into life over the past couple of months after a quiet few weeks beforehand.
