Newcastle United training must be incredibly intense under Eddie Howe, with the Toon boss always instructing his players to train in the same way that they would train.
Intensity is Newcastle’s identity with Eddie Howe in charge, with standards now so much higher at the club than they used to be.
Training is so important for Howe, as it is where he is able to work closely with his players and help them improve. He has done that with so many people at Newcastle, with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar playing better than they ever have before.
The increase in quality at Newcastle is also down to the investment, with better players arriving to help the team and raise the standards – and there has been no bigger signing than Alexander Isak.
The 24-year-old is Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, costing £63million from Real Sociedad in August 2022. He has enjoyed a strong start in black and white, scoring 17 goals in 37 appearances so far.
Isak is one of those top level players who will have helped raise the quality in training on Tyneside, and he has now named his toughest opponent during Howe’s sessions.
Alexander Isak says Sven Botman is his toughest opponent at Newcastle
Isak has spoke to the Premier League’s official website, and was asked to name who his toughest opponent in training at Newcastle is.
“The toughest in training, Sven Botman maybe,” he said.

Newcastle stars making each other better
It is no surprise to hear that Isak thinks Sven Botman is the toughest to play against in training. It was always going to be one of the centre-backs, and the 23-year-old is arguably the best at the club.
Botman is so strong, while his ability in one-on-one situations must make him so difficult for Isak to get past. The Swedish striker is a fantastic dribbler, so it must be a real battle when he goes head-to-head with Botman on the training ground.
Facing each other in training will only make them better, which in turn will only make Newcastle United a better team.
